This multi-authored work, an update of a classic text on paper coating additives (The
TAPPI Coating Additives Monograph of 1978) contains in-depth coverage of nearly all major additives used in
paper coating. Each chapter reviews the chemistry, applications, and end use of each class of coating
additive. Introductory chapters provide overviews of paper coating additives in general, and of the
principles of coating formulation.
From the Preface: “...In the last 20 years, technology has changed in the paper coating industry.
The challenge in this publication is to review the past technical information and incorporate current
learnings. Therefore, this work represents a bench mark in coating additive technology.”
Target Audience: An excellent reference source for process control, quality, and manufacturing
engineers; developers of coatings, additives for coatings, and coated products; also for academic,
industrial, or public libraries.
