The second edition of this comprehensive handbook provides key data on 217 polymers, including
20 not represented in the original edition. No other single source covers as many polymers with such
a depth of data. Entries are presented in alphabetical order. Each entry opens with notations of
acronyms and trade names, class of polymer, structure, and major applications. This information is
followed by tabular displays showing the properties of each polymer.
The maximum consistency possible has been established for properties with regard to format,
terminology, notations, and units. However, not all properties are applicable to all polymers contained
in the handbook; some properties may not even be relevant for certain polymer classes. Any
unusual properties exhibited by each polymer (such as electroluminescence or conductivity, for example)
are clearly indicated. Each entry closes with a list of references for further study.
From the Preface: “The Polymer Data
Handbook offers, in a standardized and readily accessible
tabular format, concise information on the syntheses, structures, properties, and applications of the
most important polymeric materials. Those included are currently in industrial use or they are under
study for potential new applications in industry and academic laboratories...”
Target Audience: Any researcher or technologist requiring a comprehensive database of polymers
and their properties.
