This single volume resource presents information on 20 different types of rheology modifiers
manufactured by 26 companies worldwide. It was written to lighten the task of rheology modifier selection,
a process that has traditionally required researching the technical literature of numerous
suppliers, contacting them for current and specialized information, and paring the list of candidates to a
reasonable number a tedious and time-consuming endeavor.
Rheology Modifiers Handbook is divided into four sections. It starts with a review of rheology
fundamentals, followed by critical data on more than 1,000 commercially available rheology products,
arranged alphabetically by chemical type, trade name, and supplier name. The third section summarizes
the suppliers' recommended applications for each type and covers pertinent regulatory issues when using
a modifier in food or pharmaceutical applications. The final section contains 227 formulations
showing which rheology modifiers are recommended for various applications and how they are
incorporated into the formulation.
From the Preface: “...Our goal is to bring together, in one volume, the information that a
researcher needs to select the best rheology modifier candidates for his/her project...The authors hope this
book will enable researchers to reduce the time required to select the best rheology modifiers for an
intended application from a matter of days to a matter of hours.”
Target Audience: Engineers, research scientists, and technicians in food, pharmaceutical,
cosmetic, and household/industrial applications.
