The pursuit of understanding in acid—base adhesion theory continues to fuel research affecting disciplines as diverse as composites, coatings, polymer surface analysis and modification, and printing. This book documents the proceedings of the 2nd International Symposium on Acid—Base Interactions: Relevance to Adhesion Science and Technology, held in Newark, NJ, October 19-21, 1998. The final technical program contained a total of 36 papers (32 are contained in this volume) by researchers and technologists from academia, industry, and other organizations.

From the Preface: “...During the symposium it became amply clear that there were many putative approaches to acid—base characterization of materials but there was a lack of consistency in these approaches as, at times, it became quite patent that different approaches led to quite divergent results. Thus it was highlighted in this symposium that there was no ecumenical approach to acid—base characterization of materials...”

Target Audience: Researchers, technologists, and students interested in the fields of adhesion science and technology, polymer surfaces, coatings, printing, and composites.
