Since the first Polyurethanes book was published in 1987, and updated in 1990, the world of
polyurethanes has changed dramatically. This edition has been completely restructured, rewritten, and
enlarged by some 50%. It provides a greater focus on the whole range of components used to
produce polyurethanes, a more detailed analysis of environmental issues, and extended views on the
applications of polyurethanes. The presentation is equally friendly to those with limited knowledge of
chemistry and to the more chemically-minded.
From the Foreword: “...This publication first appeared as
The ICI Polyurethanes Book, with a second edition in 1990. Today, under our owners since 1999, we publish
The Huntsman Polyurethanes Book. The original purpose was to reflect an understadning of the production, properties and potential of
polyurethanes. Our parent has changed, but the purpose of this book is the same...”
Target Audience: Any reader interested in the science, technology, or commercial aspects of
polyurethanes.
