This updated database comprises the paint and ink formulations compiled by Ernest Flick and
published during the last decade. With more than 2,500 formulations covering aerosols, caulks,
coatings and topcoats, coil coatings, interior and exterior enamels, lacquers, marine coatings, powder
coatings, primers, primer/sealers, sealants and related compounds, stains, texture paints, traffic and
airfield paints, wood coatings, overprint varnishes, printing inks and more, this invaluable CD-ROM offers
the first comprehensive database of its kind. Each formulation includes the raw materials used and
their quantities, key bulk and film properties, component trade names, and the source of the formula.
In many cases suggested formula modifications are presented as well.
The database provides the ability to locate and compare formulations by chemical makeup and
end uses. The user is able to search on ingredients, solvents, pigments and drying/curing agents.
Additional fields include chemical category, density, viscosity, stormer viscosity, #2 Zahn and #4 Ford
cup viscosities, percent solids by volume and by weight, PVC, percent non-volatiles by volume and
by weight, VOC, pigment/binder ratio, and pH. Properties of films include reflectance, gloss 60,
sheen 85, Knoop hardness, impact resistance direct, and impact resistance reverse. Recommended.
Note: This database requires a Windows 2000+ operating system.
Target Audience: Every professional involved in the formulation or use of paints, inks, or coatings.
