Since 1989, when the previous edition of
The Sizing of Paper appeared, most paper mills have
converted to neutral or alkaline pH wet end chemistry. Therefore, this updated edition reflects the
experiences and technologies that have developed with the new application. The size press surface sizing section
is expanded from the last edition, reflecting the increased interest generated by this technology. The
17 chapters are authored by 22 industry experts.
From the Preface: “...[W]e followed the general format established in previous monographs. We
broke down the project into specific product lines. The authors selected for each topic were experts in
their field...We hope that this compilation of chapters will be of some help to paper mill technical
people, students, chemists, and mill engineers...”
Target Audience: Paper mill chemists, technologists, and engineers; also, students of paper science
and technology.
