This reference book presents a single-source compendium of property data for a wide range of
polymeric materials, enabling the engineer or designer to make intelligent comparisons of data which
are derived from different test methods. Various standards, including ASTM, ISO, UL, and British
Specifications are discussed. A large amount of property information is provided to assist in the
appropriate resin selection for any application.
From the Preface: “...The differences found between the new ISO/IEC and ASTM/UL testing
standards have also been compared. Observations are made when discrepancies are found between
these two test procedures, or when important test standards have been omitted. Comments are also
provided when the test results between both test standards can not be used to compare the values
and their reported units...The plastics industry does not have uniform global testing standards,
consequently, the polymeric properties are incomplete, they are not reported uniformly, and are difficult
to compare with other materials...”
Target Audience: This reference is valuable to engineers, designers, test specialists, and specifiers
who work with plastics and elastomers, and must determine what material is appropriate for product
end-use requirements.
